Ohh gotcha. I read on several other forums that the mazda navigation is supposed to remain once Apple Carplay is installed, so that's why I'm trying to crowd source a solution. Not that I don't love Apple Carplay, but it would be good to have the Mazda navigation as a backup in case I either don't have my phone or don't have service on it.
You'll have to use the control knob or Siri to select music/podcasts/phone calls. The placement of the screen makes this much more natural, but lots of people are upset at first. Also note, even with CarPlay activated on my CX-5, the wireless dongle did not work reliably for me.
